Arizona State University (ASU) – Vocational Training and Education for Clean Energy (VOCTEC) and Nepal Academy of Science and Technology (NAST) organized a two day small wind energy workshop for policy makers in Lalitpur from Oct 1-2.

Funded by USAID, twenty seven participants completed the training. The participants included representatives from NAST, AEPC, WECS, Institute of Engineering, private sector, NGO, World Bank and USAID.

 Dr. Govind Pokharel, Vice Chairman of the National Planning Commission opened the workshop and stressed the importance of the renewable energy in Nepal. He thanked USAID and ASU for collaborating with NAST to organize the workshop.

Dr. Jiba Raj Pokharel, Vice Chancellor of NAST welcomed the participants and expressed his pleasure at the ASU-NAST collaboration to deliver the important wind training. Dr. Krishna Paudel, secretary of the Ministry of science and technology, Director of AEPC Ram Dhital and Member Secretary of NAST Dr.  Buddhi Khadge welcomed the participants and wished the program success. Dr. Ambika Prasad Adhikari VOCTEC program manager at ASU introduced the VOCTEC program and highlighted the objectives of the training.

 At the end of the training the participants expressed their satisfaction with the training. Certificate of completion were presented to the participants by the NAST VC, Dr. Jiba Raj Pokharel,  Nara Giri of NAST and Dr. Adhikari and  Moupoux.

 Dr. Suresh Dhungel coordinated the training logistics on behalf of NAST. The program closed with the vote of thanks by the NAST leadership, who thanked ASU, USAID and all the participants.

 ASU and NAST are also organizing a USAID-funded solar PV educator training from October 5-14 in Lalitpur. The VOCTEC program, under the leadership of Arizona State University (ASU), is a global program funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). VOCTEC aims to improve the sustainability of renewable energy infrastructure and investments in developing countries by increasing awareness, knowledge and capacity of local stakeholders, primarily in decentralized clean energy technologies.
