Although the Danish government has already decided to shut down its small diplomatic mission in Nepal, the royalty of Denmark continues to show solidarity and support for the Nepalese people.

As global priority and concern of Denmark has changed, the Danish government has decided to shut down its mission from 2017, as well as shutting down all its programs running in Nepal.

Danish government’s abrupt pullout from Nepal will largely affect the poor and vulnerable people living in remote parts of the country.

However, the recent visit of Danish Prince Joachim Holger Waldemar Christian is a testimony of love and support of Danish Royalty to Nepal, who has maintained his relations with the people of Nepal.

In his recent visit to Nepal, the Danish Prince showed his concern over the pathetic health condition of the quake victims in Gorkha while he was paying a visit to Care Nepal building reconstructed at Naya Sanghu of Gankhu VDC.

He inquired with Sarita Gurung, the person in charge of a local health post, about the conditions of the health post before the earthquake and how it was planning to cope with the difficulties now.

Responding to his queries, Gurung informed him about the difficulty faced by the health post due to the lack of an ambulance and enough manpower. She also told him that they were obliged to refer the patients to other health posts due to the lack of equipment. According to Gurung, the health post received from 25 to 45 patients a day.

The Danish Prince had arrived in Nepal on February 24 on a 10-day visit at the invitation of Care Nepal. The visit of the Prince could give some relief to the people in the desperate need of support.
