Himalaya Airlines chooses Amadeus as its first global distribution part

The newly launched airline, a Nepal-China joint venture, signs full content agreement with Amadeus to expand its business.

Bangkok, Thailand, 25 July 2016: Embarking on its journey to bring quality service with a flavour of Nepali culture to the world, Himalaya Airlines has chosen Amadeus as its first global distribution system (GDS) partner to distribute its fares, schedules and availability through the world’s widest network of travel agents.

The Nepal-China joint venture airline launched its inaugural flight to Doha, Qatar on May 31, 2016, and will be soon adding Delhi, Lhasa, Chengdu, Beijing, Colombo, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Dammam routes in the coming months.

“The full content agreement between Himalaya Airlines and Amadeus means Amadeus-connected travel agencies worldwide will have access to the airline’s full range of fares, seats and schedules under the same conditions as those offered through all other sales channels,” said a press release issued by Himalayan Airlines.

“Himalaya Airlines is only just starting out but we are very optimistic for the future. We truly believe we have an excellent product to offer at competitive prices, and we’re gearing up for growth with plans to expand our fleet and network. The travel agency channel is critical for us to be able to deliver our offering to travellers around the world, and we are confident we’ve made the best choice in selecting Amadeus as our first global distribution partner. Amadeus brings to the table an unmatched global network of travel agencies and industry expertise, and we are excited to work with them to grow our business,” said Mr. Vijay Shrestha, Vice President, Administration at Himalaya Airlines.

Himalaya Airlines joins the ranks of over 440 other airlines that are bookable via the Amadeus system.
