Acting Foreign Secretary Shanker Das Bairagi held a meeting on various aspects of Nepal-Japan relations with the office-bearers of Japan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship League at the headquarters of the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) of Japan in Tokyo on Wednesday.

President of the Japan-Nepal Parliamentary Friendship League and Chairman of the General Council of the LDP Toshihiro Nikai, Secretary-General of the League Yosuke Tsuruho and senior members of the Japanese parliament, Diet, were present on the occasion, according to a press statement issued by Nepali Embassy in Tokyo.

Bairagi is currently in Japan to take part in the first meeting of the Bilateral Consultative Mechanism. Senior officials of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ambassador to Japan Madan Kumar Bhattarai were present on the occasion reports My Republica on line.

Earlier, Bairagi visited Toshiba company complex in Yokohama in the morning and acquired information on the latest innovations in the field of power development specially relating to hydro-power turbines needed for installing hydro-electric plants. The company that is considered to be a technology giant and global leader in the field of cutting edge technology in various hi-tech areas including different types of turbines used in hydro, thermal, geo-thermal and nuclear plants for power generation, had supplied turbines to the 146 megawatt Kali Gandaki Project in Nepal.
