Continuing to share a smile

The Embassy of Israel continued volunteering at the Child Protection Home at Siphal, Kathmandu on 12 and 13 March 2013.

Like in previous year, this year too, Israelis living in and travelling to Nepal participated in this activity together with the members from the “Shalom Club”, a club of Nepalese who studied in Israel and the Embassy staff. 

Main focus was given to cleaning and painting walls of the rooms and building.  Repair and maintenance of the infrastructures was carried out.  And carpets and lighting system were changed.  A proper drainage system was also built along with toilets.

Delighted to help and join hands with other volunteers, Hanan Goder, Ambassador of Israel to Nepal said, ‘These children's home belongs to all of us, Nepalese and Israelis together.  I am proud to participate in this activity to help those who need our involvement.’

Free health camp for children living at the home was organized by Dr. Ram Prasad Upreti and his medical team on 12 March.  Dr. Upreti is a Medical Doc-Professor in T.U., Institute of Medicine, Maharajgunj Medical Campus and also a Shalom Club Member.  Free medicines were also provided to the children and health education was provided to children and staffs there.
