A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on 21 March, 2013 between the Embassy of India, Kathmandu, District Development Committee, Sindhupalchok and Rhishyango Welfare Society for providing Indian grant assistance of NRs. 23.41 million for renovation of Chyoifel Kundeling Monastery under Nepal-India Economic Cooperation Programme.

Established in 1946, Chyoifel Kundeling Monastery is imparting religious education to Lamas/Students. The monastery forms a very important part of the sociocultural life of the people of the area besides being an ancient heritage building. The structure of the monastery has substantially deteriorated over the years and is in danger of collapse. The inmates at the monastery have been facing serious problems with regard to their accommodation and pursuit of religious education. The renovation of the Monastery would considerably upgrade these facilities.

The project will be implemented by the District Development Committee, Sindhupalchok in accordance with the existing norms and regulations of the Government of Nepal. They will also be responsible for ensuring the quality of construction of the project and its timely completion. The MoU stipulates the constitution of an Oversight Committee, comprising representatives of the DDC/DEO and other stakeholders with a view to ensuring the implementation of the project in a time bound manner.

In addition to this project, work is ongoing on seven projects at a cost of NRs. 128.5 million including school buildings, roads & bridges and electrification in Sindhupalchok District. Five ambulances have also been provided to health care organizations in Sindhupalchok District.
