Nepali provides valuable support concerning China's major core interests: State Councilor Yang Jiechi

Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said the Chinese side highly appreciates the Nepali side for providing valuable support on issues concerning China's major core interests

Yang Jiechi expressed that China and Nepal are friendly neighbors traditionally. Meeting with Nepalese Minister for Foreign Affairs Madhav Prasad Ghimire, Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said the Chinese side highly appreciates the Nepali side for providing valuable support on issues concerning China's major core interests. The new Chinese government adheres to the foreign policy of friendship and partnership with the neighboring countries, trying to better benefit the neighboring countries with China's development. President Xi Jinping, in his recent meeting with visiting political party leaders of Nepal, stressed to promote China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership with time-honored friendship for continued development, long-term development and development to a new level. It indicates the high attention and expectation of the Chinese new leadership for China-Nepal relations and has mapped out the direction for the future development of China-Nepal relationship. China is willing to work with Nepal to push the bilateral relations continue to step up to new highs.

 

First to keep frequent high-level exchanges, Chinese state leader is willing to visit Nepal at an appropriate time and the Chinese side welcomes leaders of the Nepali government and political parties visiting China. He hoped that the Foreign Ministries of the two countries would strengthen communication and cooperation.

 

Second to expand economic and trade cooperation, China is willing to take measures to expand import from Nepal, to promote balanced growth of bilateral trade and to encourage competitive Chinese businesses investing in Nepal and joining in airports, hydroelectric development and infrastructure construction in Nepal. China will as always provide assistance within its ability for economic and social development of Nepal.

 

Third, to deepen law enforcement cooperation, to work together to combat cross-border crime and to maintain security and stability along the China-Nepal border as well as the security of both countries.

 

Fourth, to keep close people-to-people exchanges, China welcomes more Nepali students studying in China, China will hold the 6th "China Festival" in Nepal by the end of this year, and hopes to set up China Cultural Centre in Nepal at an early date. China encourages its citizens travelling to Nepal as tourists.

 

Yang Jiechi expressed that China wishes a smooth operation for the Constituent Assembly election in Nepal, an early date to complete the constitutional process and long-term stability, prosperity and development of the country.

According to Chinese Embassy, Ghimire expressed that Nepal-China relationship is developing smoothly on the basis of the Five Principles of Peaceful Coexistence. The Nepali side thanks the Chinese side for the supporting and helps for Nepal in achieving peace and stability, economic development and improvement of people's livelihood. Ghimire reaffirmed that the Nepali government recognizes Tibet as an inalienable part of the Chinese territory and does not allow any force to use the territory of Nepal to engage in anti-China political activities. It is an important opportunity for Nepal that China maintains its growth. The Nepali side is willing to strengthen good-neighborly and friendly cooperative relations with the Chinese side. Both sides as well exchanged views on enhancing the cooperation between China and South Asian countries and regional issues.

 

Similarly, meeting with Acting President Parmananda Jha of Nepal, State Councilor Yang Jiechi stressed that China places great importance on the relationship with Nepal. President Xi Jinping, in his recent meeting with visiting political party leaders of Nepal, stressed to promote China-Nepal comprehensive cooperative partnership with time-honored friendship for continued development, long-term development and development to a new level. It has mapped out the direction for China-Nepal relationship. The relationship between the two countries requires both the succession of traditional friendship, and with pioneering spirit of innovation. China is willing to work with Nepal to maintain exchanges of high-level visits and party-to-party contacts, to strengthen economic and trade cooperation as well as interconnection and interworking construction and to expand people-to-people exchanges. China appreciates Nepal for the valuable support on issues concerning China's major core interests. China will continue to provide help within its ability for the economic and social development of Nepal.

 

Jha expressed that Nepal cherishes good-neighborly and friendly cooperation between the two countries and adheres to the One-China policy. The Nepali side recognizes Tibet as an inalienable part of the Chinese territory and does not allow any force to use territory of Nepal to engage in anti-China political activities.

 

According to Chinese Embassy, during the visit, Yang Jiechi as well met respectively with Khil Raj Regmi, Chairman of Council of Ministers, and Madhav Ghimire, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Minister for Home Affairs of Nepal. He has been broadly engaged with leading officials of Nepali political parties, exchanged views and reached extensive consensus with them on developing relations between the two countries. Yang Jiechi stressed that China respects independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity of Nepal and respects the choice of the Nepali side for a development path that conforms to its national conditions. Wish a smooth operation for the Constituent Assembly election in Nepal, an early date to complete the constitutional process and long-term stability, prosperity and development of the country. The Nepali side thanks the Chinese side for the support and help for Nepal in achieving peace and stability, economic development and improvement of people's livelihood.
