Nepal-India meeting on Rail line

A coordination meeting on the construction of Two Rail Line Projects concluded

Nepal-India coordination meeting on the construction of two rail line was held in Kathmandu. Led by secretary, Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, other officials of Government of Nepal and representatives of Indian Embassy and Ircon International Ltd review the progress and discuss the pending issues for the construction of Two Rail Line Projects, viz., Jogbani-Biratnagar and Jaynagar-Bijalpura-Bardibas.

The meeting was fruitful and positive. The meeting was informed that 68% of the work has been completed on the Indian side (Jogbani) and 20% of work has been completed on the Nepalese side (Biratnagar). On Jayanagar – Bijalpura – Bardibas Rail Link preparatory works like earth-work, station building, staff quarters and bridge construction are in progress.

According to a press release of Indian Embassy, government of Nepal assured that the required land for the project free from all encumbrances will be acquired and handed over to IRCON at the earliest to expedite the work in both sectors. Both sides agreed to provide all necessary support to expedite implementation of these important projects.
