Indian Embassy and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation organized 16th edition of Cinemandu at Nepal-Bharat Library, Nepal Airlines Building, New Road.

This edition of Cinemandu screened a commercially successful and critically acclaimed Nepali feature film Kabaddi.

Director and writer of the film Ram Babu Gurung, producer and actor Nischal Basnet and actor Kapil Mani Nepal joined the screening of Kabaddi.

This edition of Cinemandu also screened critically acclaimed short film Baansulli, written and directed by Min Bham. Baansuli was recently screened in the Venice Film Festival.

After the screening of the films, actor Nischal Basnet shared, “I am just an ordinary person. I was like one of those many film students sitting inside the theater, watching Nepali film, and complaining about many things. And one day I decided that I cannot just complain, I needed to contribute as much. That is how the whole journey began.”

The audience interacted with Nischal Basnet and Ram Babu Gurung later. The conversation between them highlighted the story behind the making of Kabaddi.  

Head of Press, Information and Culture at Indian Embassy and Secretary of B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation, Abhay Kumar said, “Normally, a Nepali film runs not more than for two weeks in the multiplexes. But with Kabaddi, we had to wait for two months. I congratulate the makers for making such a successful movie.”
