On the occasion of 59th Nepal Police Day, UNDP’s Armed Violence Reduction and Strengthening Community Security (AVRSCS) project handed over 26 motorcycles to the Community Police Service Centers in Kathmandu Valley.

UNDP’s Acting Country Director Sophie Kemkhadze handed over the keys to the bikes to AIG of Nepal Police Bigyan Raj Sharma at a ceremony organized by Nepal Police to mark the Day at Police Club in Kathmandu.

Addressing the function, Ms. Kemkhadze congratulated the Nepal Police for work they do in providing security to the public and expressed happiness that UNDP has begun a very meaningful partnership with the Nepal Police and the Ministry of Home Affairs through AVRSCS project.

Welcoming UNDP support to Nepal police, IGP Sharma said that resource crunch is a major challenge for the organization.

UNDP’s AVRSCS project is also handing over additional 508 bicycles, 307 mobile phone sets, and other equipment to the district police offices in the six districts in Tarai.
