A meeting of the party’s Central Committee of UCPN-Maoist has decided to transfer leadership by holding a special convention within a year.

The UCPN (M) leaders agreed in principle regarding the transfer of party leadership. Likewise, Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and senior leader Baburam Bhattarai have already reached an agreement over developing a new policy so that a single person doesn’t hold entire grip over the party.

“We are in search of a new policy so that the party is run by collective leadership,” said leader Bhattarai.

According to Gopal Kiranti, a Standing Committee member of the party, the CC meeting will also discuss about the working guidelines which the party would adopt after the promulgation of the new constitution.

Meanwhile, Chairman Dahal has proposed to dissolve the incumbent CC and convert it to the General Convention Organizing Committee.
