UCPN (Maoist) leader Agni Sapkota has warned that his party will abandon the Constituent Assembly (CA) if the ruling parties—Nepali Congress (NC) and CPN-UML—try to push through the constitution by riding on their numerical strength.

Saying that the ruling alliance has not been generous when it comes to granting rights to the people, Sapkota said the nation would take another course if the ruling parties did not reconsider their decision. He added that his party will not remain a mute-spectator to the attempt to promulgate the new constitution through procedure reports The Himalayan Times.

“We are not protesting against rules and procedure. But noting can be above people’s total liberation,” said leader Kharel, speaking at programme in the Capital on Wednesday.  “The NC and UML are trying to revert the nation back to old system instead of giving rights to the people,” he added.

The UCPN (Maoist) criticised the ruling parties’ decision to take ahead the CA procedure and consensus attempt.  He declared that he will not let his party’s give up its agenda as long as he lives.
