Indian Embassy and B.P. Koirala India-Nepal organized 25th edition of Poemandu on Friday, February 06, 2015 at Nepal Bharat Library in Nepal Airlines Building, New Road.

Abhay Kumar, Secretary of B.P. Koirala India-Nepal Foundation extended his gratitude to all the participating poets and the audience for their encouragement and participation ever since Poemandu started 25 months ago.

He said, “We have stepped into the third consecutive year of Poemandu. This would not have been possible without the invaluable participation by each of you in all our 25 editions.”

This edition of Poemandu had eminent poets reciting their poems in Nepali and in English, namely – Dinesh Adhikary, Dr Gargi Sharma, Dr. Gyanu Pandey, Ashesh Malla, Dr. Usha Thakur, Chirag Bangdel and Abhay Kumar.

The powerful recitations by these poets were well received by the audience.

Noted political analyst and literary critic, Pradeep Giri was the special guest at the event. Giri at the conclusion of the programme shared, “I am glad to be here today to hear such commendable poems written by noted poets of Nepal. I congratulate Abhay Kumar for stepping into the third year of Poemandu. In terms of poetry, I have been more a reader than a writer myself.

As a political figure, I was very close with Bisheshwar Prasad Koirala and Krishna Prasad Bhattarai. Both them while they were behind the bars, used to write extensively. I still remember B.P. Koirala talking to me how he loved reading William Shakespeare and William Blake. On this occasion I also congratulate Abhay Kumar and extend my greetings for his recently release book on poetry The Seduction of Delhi.”
