Chairman of the Constituent Assembly (CA) Subas Chandra Nembang has started discussions with senior leaders of the major political parties on efforts and progress made by political parties towards resolving the present deadlock in constitution writing. The meeting is presently ongoing at Singhadurbar.

Prime Minister and President of the Nepali Congress (NC) Sushil Koirala, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs and Vice-chairman of the CPN-UML Bamdev Gautam and former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Unified CPN-Maoist Pushpa Kamal Dahal are present at the meeting.

Also, participating in the discussion are the Chairman of Madhesi Janadhikar Forum-Nepal Upendra Yadav, Chairman of the Madheshi Janadhikar Forum-Democratic Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, and Chief Whip of the Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal Dilnath Giri, among others.

The meeting has been called at a time when the opposition parties' alliance led by the Unified CPN-Maoist has announced a series of protest programs following the political standoff resulted with formation of the Proposal Drafting Committee in the CA.

The CA Chairman has postponed the CA meeting for an indefinite period to give parties a time to forge political consensus after the opposition parties' protested the CA procedure and took to the streets.
