Chinese Assistant minister for Foreign Affairs Liu Jianchao said that China is ready to provide all kinds of support to Nepal’s reconstruction and rehabilitation program.

 Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs China Liu Jianchao conveyed this message to Prime Minister Sushil Koirala during his meeting.  During the meeting Chinese Assistant minister Liu also discussed matter related to the rescue and relief operations and Nepal’s needs and bilateral relations between the two countries after massive earthquake of April 25.

Leading an 11 member delegation to map out post disaster relief and reconstruction efforts, Liu also held meeting with Foreign Minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey and Foreign secretary Shanker Bairagi.

Prime Minister Koirala praised prompt support given by Chinese government in rescue and relief operation and expressed the hope that China will provide further support in reconstruction and rehabilitation phase.

According to a press release issued by Prime Minister Koirala’s press coordinator, Prime Minister Koirala also urged Chinese minister to complete the regional airport in Pokhara as another alternative to Kathmandu which is under a severe pressure now.

Chinese assistant minister Liu also held extensive meeting with foreign minister Mahendra Bahadur Pandey. Assistant minister Liu assured an enhanced level of cooperation as per the needs and priority of Nepal from China and said his country could help build infrastructure and restructure cultural and historical heritage destroyed by the quake according to a press release issued by Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Chinese minister also mentioned that China will dispatch the third phase of relief materials to Nepal worth Rs.1.32 billion and will also assist in the establishment of earthquake monitoring mechanism in Nepal.
