Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi phoned newly elected Prime Minister K.P. Sharma Oli and congratulated him for being elected as a prime minister of Nepal. Indian prime minister also invited Nepalese Prime Minister Oli to visit India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi twitted his conversation soon after the election. At a time when a Nepal-India relation is lowest, Indian Prime Minister Modi’s phone call opened a door for talk to normalize the relations.

CPN-UML leader Oli secured 338 votes out in the Constituent Assembly and Nepali Congress leader and outgoing Prime Minister Sushil Koirala secured 249 out of 587 votes casted. There were 598 Legislature-Parliament members. Oli is 38th prime minister of Nepal.
