The British Embassy in Kathmandu hosted the Nepal Rugby Association for a seven-a-side “Touch Rugby” tournament Saturday.
The event was part of the celebrations across the globe to mark the 2015 Rugby World Cup in England in which twenty countries are competing. It also forms part of the Nepal Rugby Association’s month long schedule of events for Rugby World Cup 2015.
At the Embassy event ladies and men teams participated from the Nepal Rugby Association, the British Embassy, DFID Nepal, British Gurkhas Nepal and the British Council in a fun and sporting atmosphere.
British Chargé d’Affaires John Rankin said “I am delighted to host our friends in the Nepal Rugby Association at the British Embassy as we approach the bicentenary of relations between our two countries.
According to a press release of British Embassy, Rugby is a great game, helping young people – girls and boys alike – to develop fitness, skills and teamwork. The Rugby World Cup 2015 in England has so far been a marvellous tournament enjoyed by spectator and television viewers across the world.
I hope that rugby in Nepal will continue to prosper and I look forward to Nepal participating in future World Cups”
