A group of people marched demanding Climate justice from COP 21, Paris. As the COP 21 is on in Paris, a group of young people marched at Kathmandu demanding climate justice from the COP 21.

According to an organizer, around thousand people marched from Bhrikutimandap to Basantapur Durbar Square demanding Climate Justice from upcoming United Nations Climate Change Conference, which is going to be held from November 30 –December 11 in Paris France.

Over one hundred head of states and the government from all over the world are gathering at Paris to decide the future of the world and come with new climate treaty.

The rally was organized to put pressure on world leader to sign a globally just agreement which is at stake. According to organizer, people’s Climate March was organized in Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Hetauda, Chitwan, Damauli and Lamjung .

“We are demanding a Just Climate Deal with fair shares, fair agreement and fair process, and take a safer track for all the people of the world and not for the luxuries of few,” said Niraj Kafle, one of the activists of the March.

“Youth, activist, indigenous group, women, development professional from different sector joined the march to send a clear message to world that Nepal can offer sustainable models and cultural transfer to the North to the solve the climate crisis while we end the inequality,” said Drishty Shrestha one of the organizers of  the  program.

“As it is reported that 2015 is on track to be the hottest year in recorded history, current commitments from world governments going into the climate summit are simply not adding up at a moment when renewable energy is becoming a revolutionary economic force that could power a just transition away from fossil fuels while empowering communities at the front lines of climate change with the resources they need to respond to the crisis,” said organizer.

This weekend of worldwide mobilizations is further testament to the unprecedented surge in climate action we’ve seen in the last year and serves to pave the way for further escalation going into 2016. World leaders need to walk away from Paris with the clear understanding that they must continually raise their ambition as the only way to avert the worst impacts of the climate crisis.

People’s Climate March was organized by People’s Climate Mobilization team. Last year ahead of Ban Ki moon Climate Summit People’s Climate March was organized in Kathmandu too
