The main opposition party CPN-UML has urged the government to hold the local level elections on June 28 in the province number 1, 2, 5 and 7 in 43 districts.

“It is unacceptable to CPN-UML any change in the elections date,” said a press release issued by CPN-UML.

The standing committee meeting held at the party’s office in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu today, expressed grave concern over the statement of the leaders expressing doubt on June 28 local polls.

UML has urged all the political parties to take part in the elections as it is the only means to institutionalise Federal Democratic Republic in Nepal and strive the nation towards prosperity through locally elected representatives.

“All political parties including the agitating Rastriya Janta Party Nepal should be an integral part and play significant role in stabilising Nepal’s political stability,” it said in a statement.

“UML is flexible to address some of the demands put forth by the RJP-N; compensation to beavered families killed during agitations and treatment to injured ones.“The cases filed against the innocent people could be lifted to create an atmosphere more conducive to the elections, however, serious crime cases should not be let off which could encourage impunity in the county,” as stated in the statement
