As Chief Secretary Dr. Som Lal Subedi is leaving from his post next month to join Asian Development Bank alternate Executive Director, government is hunting a person to find out appropriate candidates for the post.

Dr. Subedi is second top bureaucrats to serve the positions. Former chief secretary Karna Dhoj Adhikary also served alternate executive director decade ago.

According to media reports, there are three strong candidates for the post. Along with Education secretary Shanta Bahadur Shrestha and finance secretary Dr. Shanta Raj Subedi, Dhan Bahadur Tamang is also eying for the top post.

If Shrestha and Dr. Subedi, who will get mandatory retirement in October, are appointed, they will complete three year tenure. However, Tamang’s tenure will be short as he will be retired next year 2018.

Finance secretary Dr. Subedi is reportedly very close to Maoist Center. Similarly, Shrestha has also relations with Maoist-Center, Nepali Congress and even CPN-UML.

Tamang, senior most secretary, is reportedly close to Nepali Congress. Engineer in background, Tamang also served various ministries during his tenure.

Experts worried that there is a danger of loss of neutrality.
