Secretary of Cooperative and Poverty Alleviation Rajendra Kishor Kshetri was appointed as a chief secretary of Nepal government. The meeting of the Council of Ministers held this morning appointed him as chief secretary.

“I am very honor to head civil service at a crucial transitional period. I am very grateful to the government of Nepal for promoting me as a chief secretary. I will work professionally as par the tradition, practices and responsibility given to the chief secretary,” Kshetri told to New Spotlight.  

Having an expertise in water resources related laws, Kshetri, who served as a Water Secretary at the Ministry of Energy, Nepal Law Commission, Office of Vice President, Commission of Investigation of Abuse of Authority and he was a secretary at Ministry for Cooperatives and Poverty Alleviation now. Before transferred to administrative service, he worked in law service.

A total of eight high-ranking government staffers had vied for the post of chief secretary. Kshetri was selected by the government as a senior most secretary. The post was vacant following the appointment of chief secretary Dr. Som Lal Subedi as Alternative the Executive Director of Asian Development Bank.

Kshetri Will retire at the end of October.
