Metropolitan Police Office launches safety pin campaign to reduce Sexual Violence against women in public transport

Metropolitan Police Office launches safety pin campaign to reduce Sexual Violence against women in public transport. Under this program, Nepal police launches awareness campaigns, publicity, sting operation and legal action.

Addressing an annual press conference, officiating head of Metropolitan Police Office, Deputy Inspector General of Police Bam Bahadur Bhandari said the campaign aimed to reduce the sexual harassment and sexual violence.

He said the crime rate in Kathmandu valley has decreased the crime rate by 5.1 percent in Kathmandu Valley compared to previous year. DIG Bhandari said that Metropolitan Police will also launch other programs in coming year to reduce the crime.
