PM Deuba Inquires On Not Allowing Diplomats In Election Observation

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba requested Elections Commission to allow Kathmandu based diplomatic mission to observe the elections

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba requested Elections Commission to allow Kathmandu based diplomatic mission to observe the elections. According to Nayapatrika Daily, prime minister Deuba requested  in a meeting with election commissioners on his residence on Monday.

Nepal based diplomatic mission criticized Commission’s decision not to allow them to monitor elections as election observer.  Prime minister questioned election commissioners about the reason behind the decision.

Election Commissioner Iswari Prasad Paudel told Prime Minister Deuba that the commission gave permit to diplomatic mission in the second round.However, missions declined to visit.  

According to report, the Embassy of United States sent note objecting the decision of the commission warning that it will affect ongoing U.S. support to Nepal.
