The
Government of India provides financial support for Livelihood Improvement,
Women Empowerment and Awareness Program in Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Sarlahi and
Mahottari districts.
The Embassy of India, Kathmandu and the Nepal Indian Women Friendship Society, Kathmandu signed a Memorandum of Understandings (MoU) for Livelihood Improvement, Women Empowerment and Awareness Program in Bhaktapur, Chitwan, Sarlahi and Mahottari districts.
According to a press release issued by the Indian Embassy, the Government of India under its Small Development Program Scheme committed total financial support of NRs. 31.94 Lakhs for this project.
Under this Project, various workshop and skill development training on women empowerment & awareness, sewing & cutting, beautician, market promotion training etc. would be conducted by Nepal India Women Friendship Society, Kathmandu. The project is aimed at improving the livelihood of women living in rural areas and provides them with self employment opportunities to improve their standard of living.
Under India-Nepal Economic Cooperation Program, the Government of India has been providing financial assistance for various large and small development projects in different parts of Nepal. These development projects, mainly in the sectors of education, health and infrastructure development, have been undertaken in response to local needs and in partnership with the Government of Nepal.
