The Election Commission (EC) has informed that the local level election in Province 2 has completed in a peaceful manner.

The EC has informed that the voter turnout of the election in eight districts of Province 2 was 73% in a press meet.

Speaking at the program, Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhee Prasad Yadav informed that except some minor incidents, overall, the election was conducted in a peaceful manner and concluded that the participation of voters was very enthusiastic.

“Despite recent flood and natural calamities in the region, the overwhelming participation of the local during the poll has strengthened the democratic value in the country and has assured the right of the people”, said CEC Yadav.

CEC Yadav expressed satisfaction over the successful conduction of the election in the province with political consent and understanding, though the poll date was rescheduled many times and added that this election has conveyed a message of prosperous future of the country.

 Monday's elections will elect 6,627 local representatives for which a total of 37,236 contestants are vying for the posts of chiefs and members of the local units and ward committees. EC officials said there are a total of 2,664,950 registered voters in Province 2. Of the total seats allocated for local units, eight candidates have already been elected unanimously.
