COAS General Chhetri Closes UN Peacekeeping Training

Chief of Army Staff General Rajendra Chhetri closed a pre-deployment training given to UN Peace keepers who will be deployed in UNIFIL Mission and UNDOF Mission in Syria at Birendra Peace Training Center in Panchkhal.

COAS General Chhetri also inspected the training and addressed the Nepal Army Peacekeepers. Addressing the closing ceremony, COAS General Chhetri said that Nepal Army has been serving in UN Peacekeeping mission since 1958. ”With its discipline, honest, capability and commitments to duty, United Nations recognizes Nepal Army as most dependable troops contributing country,” said COAS General Chhetri. He expressed the hope that Nepal Army Peacekeepers will fully utilize their training and lesson in executing their duty as par mission mandate.

Nepal Army has already sent 117,229 soldiers in 42 different UN Peacekeeping Mission. During the period 63 Nepalese soldiers have sacrificed their life and 63 received injury. According to a press release issued by Nepal Army, Nepal is the sixth largest Peace troopers contributing country.
