There is a breakthrough in tunnel work of 486 MW Upper Tamakosi Hydropower project. In a presence of Chairman of Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) and secretary of Ministry of Energy Anup Kumar Upadhyaya, the contractor made a breakthrough at headrace tunnel.
According to the chief of Upper Tamakosi project Bigyan Shrestha, after the breakthrough, 90 percent of the work of the project has completed.
Now the contractors are carrying the electro-mechanical equipment at the project site. Due to road expansion work, there is a delay of transportation of electro-mechanical equipment at the project site.
Shrestha said that concreting work is now taking place at fast speed. Out of 147 transmission polls, work has to complete only 16 polls now. The project is under a construction of investment of Nepali investors.
The project is scheduled to generate electricity from December 2018. The project is delayed due to an earthquake.
