Japan Welcomes The Elections As Free and Fair

Japan welcomes the voting at the elections of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies in Nepal on December 7th in a generally peaceful manner without major confusion.

In a statement issued by Embassy of Japan, Japan deployed an election observer mission composed of 10 members, led by Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwao Horii and the mission visited several polling stations in the Kathmandu Valley.

“Based on the results of such visits, we acknowledge that the elections of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies in Nepal were held in a free, fair and transparent manner,” said a statement.

“Japan expects that outcome of the elections will be determined in accordance with an appropriate and fair process. We also expect that political processes after the elections will proceed smoothly and will continue to support Nepal’s efforts for further consolidating its democracy,” reads a statement.
