External Affairs Minister of India Sushma Swaraj assured India’s continuous support for Nepal’s development and prosperity. During the meeting with Nepal’s Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Matrika Prasad Yadav, Minister of External Affairs of India expressed India’s commitment.  During the meeting, the two Ministers exchanged views on a range of matters of Nepal-India relations.

Minister of Industry, Commerce and Supplies conveyed the desire of the Government of Nepal to further consolidate bilateral relations with India and to this end, he stressed on the need of stepping up meaningful economic cooperation on the basis of mutuality of benefits.

The External Affairs Minister termed the completion of the processes of various elections in Nepal as important achievement.

Earlier this afternoon, Commerce Minister Yadav also met the Minister of Commerce and Industry of India Suresh Prabhu. The two Ministers discussed about various matters related to bilateral trade, transit and investment.

 According to a press release issued by Embassy of Nepal, New Delhi, they also shared views on the importance of the World Trade Organization for countries like Nepal and India as well as on how the like-minded countries can work together to safeguard and strengthen the rule-based multilateral trading system.        

Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies is on a visit to India at the invitation of Minister of Commerce and Industry of India in order to participate in the informal meeting of the ministers responsible for the WTO being held on March 19-20, 2018.
