Vibration Japan: Harmony of Asian Music

Japanese musicians have shown that music has no boundary and no language as it can be understood by everyone. In their almost one hour displayed their attracted the attention of the audiences present at the program.

Headed by Sou Inoue together with other Japanese and Nepalese musicians, Hibiki Band performs a musical concert at the premises of Japanese Embassy. In front of around 100 audiences which includes Kathmandu based foreign diplomats and people of various walks of life, the band performs thrilling Japanese traditional music with drum.

With the aim of promoting Japan and its traditional as well as contemporary cultures in Nepal, the Embassy of Japan organized a concert - Vibration Japan: Harmony of Asian Music.

The event showcased the traditional as well as contemporary Japanese and Nepalese music. It was a fusion of Japanese and Nepalese music.  The concert showcases traditional as well as contemporary Japanese and Nepalese music, which may be considered as a fusion of these two types of Asian sounds.  There are many similarities and closeness in culture, especially in music and musical instruments between Japan and Nepal.

With no boundaries, music is an internationally common language, which fosters mutual understanding and respect among all peoples of the world. It is also one of the most effective ways of promoting cultural exchange at the people’s level.

Like Nepal, Japan is very rich in art, culture and cultural heritage and both countries have preserved and maintained these areas very well. This fact can only contribute to the depth and interest of collaboration between them.

“These types of occasions will help promote cultural ties between the people of the two countries, which will ultimately help in the expansion of an ever growing friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Nepal in the 21st  century,” said Shuichi Sakaibara, Minister –Counselor, Embassy of Japan welcoming the guest.

“I have pleasure in mentioning here that the government of Japan is hosting the World Assembly for Women in Tokyo (WAW Tokyo 2014) which will be held from September 12-14. The Japan Business Federation and the Japan Institute of International Affairs are also joining hands with the government of Japan hosting the meeting.”

It is hoped that these types of occasions will help promote cultural ties between the people of the two countries, which will ultimately help in the expansion of an ever-growing friendly and cooperative relationship between Japan and Nepal in the 21st century.

The program also includes the dance Keshab Sapkota, chairperson of, Nepal International Cultural Exchange. Along with Japanese music band, other Nepalese and Japanese artists also performed their music. Those include Japanese Sarangi player Yuji Nakagawa, Ravin Lal Shrestha in tabala, Shyam Nepali, Raman Maharjan and Babu Raja Maharjan.
