Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri has extended an official invitation to Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli for a visit to India. This marks a positive development in relations between the two countries.

Prime Minister Oli, who was previously seen as anti-Indian by some in the Indian establishment, has now been invited to visit India after over a year of his appointment as Prime Minister of Nepal. During his visit to Nepal, Secretary Misri also met with other key political figures, including

President Ramchandra Paudel, Foreign Minister Arzu Deuba, Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, and Maoist Chairperson Pushpa Kamal Dahal. The exact date of Prime Minister Oli's visit to India has not been officially announced yet, but it is expected to take place on Bhadra 31 (September 16).

Joint Secretary Gehendralal Rajbhandari from the South Asia Division accompanied the Indian Foreign Secretary during his visit to Nepal.

During his visit to Nepal, Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri held bilateral talks with Foreign Secretary Armrit Bahadur Rai. He also paid courtesy calls to President Ram Chandra Paudel, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Foreign Minister Dr. Arju Deuba Rana, and former Prime Ministers Sher Bahadur Deuba and Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda.

Discussions during the meeting with Foreign Secretary Rai covered various topics such as connectivity, trade, and development cooperation, highlighting the strong relationship between the two countries.

Additionally, Misri visited Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba at her office in Singha Durbar, where they discussed key bilateral issues and reiterated their commitment to enhancing the Nepal-India partnership. His official visit to Kathmandu on 17th August was met with awarm reception by JS (South Asia) Ambassador Gahendra Rajbhandari at Tribhuvan International Airport.

Former Prime Minister Deuba expressed his pleasure in welcoming Indian Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri to his residence, emphasizing the importance of strengthening the close and multifaceted Nepal-India relations based on mutual trust and shared goals for prosperity and stability in the region.

Misri's visit underscores the ongoing high-level exchanges between the two countries and reaffirms India's commitment to its Neighborhood First policy.
