Despite a bomb attack, Nepali Congress youth leader Gagan Thapa continues his elections campaign. He has been injured in an explosion targeting his election rally at Chapali, Budhanilakantha Municipality.

“This will not affect my or the party’s morale as it will strengthen the intention of the ‘perpetrators’. We will move on with our regular schedule.” Thapa will continue with the election campaign, a mass campaign at Chabahil.

However, two persons were critically injured in the blast are still in TU Teaching Hospital. They have been identified as Shyam Krishna Shrestha and Ram Kaji Shrestha. One of them has injuries on left chest while others on knee.

The one with the injuries on knee may have to bear long term affect, according to the doctors. Meanwhile, the injured duos are undergoing operation at the Hospital.

Witnesses said at least seven party workers and supporters have also been wounded in the explosion, some seriously. They are also undergoing treatment at the Teaching Hospital.

Thapa, a former health minister, is contesting from Kathmandu 4, from where he was elected to the second Constituent Assembly in 2013.

Thapa’s close aide Subhas Adhikary informed that all the injured have been receiving treatment at the Maharajgunj-based TU Teaching Hospital. Thapa who has sustained injuries in his shoulder is said to be in normal condition now, after receiving treatment, said Adhikary.
