The European Union says its observers found no evidence of the foul play alleged by some parties in Nepal‘s election for the Constituent Assembly.
"We observed more than 500 polling stations and none of our observer reports talk about stuffing of ballots or any such irregularities," said Eva Joly, the head of European Union observers’ mission.
Sporadic violence ahead of the polls did not impact voting on the day, which "was conducted in a generally calm procedure," she said, but added that there was a need for greater transparency over campaign finances.
