Indian Embassy Celebrated Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Anniversary

India Embassy in association with BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation [BPKF] and the Indian Cultural Centre [ICC], organized a talk program on ‘The Indian Constitution’ on 25th November to commemorate the 125th Birth Anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar. 

The 125th birth anniversary of Dr. Ambedkar has been celebrated as the Constitution Day.  The Constitution of India embodies the aspirations of the people of India for justice, social, economic and political; for liberty of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship; for equality of status and of opportunity; and for inclusive socio-economic development for all sections of society.  It is by virtue of this Constitution that India since its promulgation in January 1950 has emerged today as the largest democracies in the world and as the fastest growing major economy.

To mark this important and historic event, well known Nepalese speakers/constitutional experts Justice Girish Chandra Lal, Prof. Surya Dhungel and Shri Nischalnath Pandey; and the Indian Ambassador to Nepal Ranjit Rae shared their thoughts and delivered speeches on key features of the Indian Constitution and its correlation with other constitutions from the world.  The speakers also shed lights on far-sightedness and contribution of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar in the making of Indian Constitution.

Minister of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Mr. Ajay Shankar Nayak graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and Key Note Speaker. In his remarks at the program, Minister said, “Ambedkar is symbol of democracy, justice, equality and liberty. The constitution crafted by Bahasaheb Ambedkar is the key to national integrity of India. He is not only an icon of democracy, rule of law and social justice but also remain inspiration to all across the world.”

The talk program had witnessed more than 150 participants representing all walks of life including politicians, bureaucrats, scholars, academicians, lawyers, social organizations and media persons.
