Ambassador of Japan to Nepal Masashi Ogawa handed over a community learning resource center for students of the neighboring areas in Gorkha District. Dr. Bijan Pant, the Chairperson of the Maya Prem Trust and a former advisor to the Prime Minister, was also present at the handover ceremony.

The Government of Japan extended financial assistance of US Dollars 85,628 (NPR approximately 9.0 million) to the Innovative Forum for Community Development (IFCD) under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) of FY2015.

IFCD, a Nepali NGO in Gorkha District, worked with the Maya Prem Trust and a local users’ group to construct a community resource center, consisting of a hall, toilets, a computer room, and a library.

This community learning resource center will be used by the students of twelve public schools as a learning center where they will have opportunities to utilize computers and access to educational materials. Also, teachers will be provided training on quality education and effective teachings, according to the initial plan of IFCD.

Furthermore, in case of emergency, this community center will be used as a shelter with capacity for one hundred people.

According to a press release issued by Embassy of Japan, the Embassy of Japan in Nepal hopes the success of this project will benefit local students, teachers, and residents for better educational opportunities and for enhancement of community development in the long term. The Embassy also hopes this project will enhance the cordial friendship between the peoples of Japan and Nepal. The Alliance Française de To Organize The Francophonie Week 2018
