The 23^rd Annual Welfare Meeting of Indian Army Ex-servicemen Welfare Organisation in Nepal (IEWON) was organised at Kathmandu under the Chairmanship of Shri Jayant Prasad, Ambassador of India to Nepal on 13 May 2013. IEWON is functioning under the aegis of Embassy of India, and is responsible for the welfare of all the Nepal domiciled Government of India pensioners. There are approx 90,000 Indian Army Ex-servicemen settled in Nepal. The Government of India has been looking after the welfare aspects of these veterans since 1952.

This meeting was attended by officials of Government of Nepal, led by Shri Tilak Ram Sharma, Defence Secretary and delegation from India led by Shri Rajeev Gupta, Secretary Ex-servicemen Welfare, Ministry of Defence, Government of India, Officers from Embassy of India and Secretaries of Indian District Soldier Boards in Nepal. With the aim to review welfare projects being executed for the benefit of Nepal domiciledGovernment of India pensioners, consultation on wide ranging welfare issues with senior officials of Government of Nepal was also organised. The delegation from India is scheduled to address ESM rally at Pokhara and will interact with the veterans, disabled soldiers and war widows.
