India, China, Japan and the United States congratulate Dahal

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke to Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ to congratulate him after he was elected as the new Prime Minister of Nepal.

PM Modi, thereafter, assured him of full support of India.

Following the telephone conversation, Modi tweeted, “Spoke to Nepal’s PM-elect Puspa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ ji and congratulated him, Assured him of our full support and invited him to India.

Similarly, China extended congratulations to Nepal's newly-elected Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, also known as Prachanda.

"China, as Nepal's close and friendly neighbor, stands ready to make joint efforts with Nepal to implement various agreements and expand mutually beneficial cooperation," said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying.

She said China will push forward the bilateral comprehensive cooperative partnership featuring ever-lasting friendship reports Chinese news Agency Xinhua from Beijing.

Dahal, chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Center), was elected the 39th prime minister of Nepal on Wednesday.

Chinese ambassador to Nepal Wu Chuntai visited Prime Minister Prachanda’s residence soon after his elections as prime minister.

Likewise, Japan congratulates Dahal. On behalf of the people and the Government of Japan, the Embassy of Japan extended its sincere congratulations to Pushpa Kamal Dahal on his taking the post of the Prime Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal.

The Government of Japan always has a firm commitment to the democratization process for peace and prosperity in Nepal.  The Embassy sincerely hopes that the new leadership will bring about a more prosperous, unified and stable Nepal.

The Embassy believes that the cordial relationship between Japan and Nepal will be further developed and strengthened this year, which marks the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relationship, and beyond.

The Embassy looks forward to continuing to support Nepal's reconstruction efforts from last year's earthquake and its social and economic development in a medium and long term as much as it can.

Similarly, the United States congratulates Pushpa Kamal Dahal on his election as Nepal’s Prime Minister.  Nepal’s commitment to democracy is evident in the peaceful government transition over the past few weeks.  The United States looks forward to continuing to partner with the people and government of Nepal to build a more democratic, prosperous, and stable nation that can carry out the important tasks of constitutional implementation, reconstruction, and economic development.
