Coca-Cola, whose history began on 8th of May, 1886 when the curiosity of an Atlanta pharmacist, Dr. John S. Pemberton, led him to create a distinctive tasting soft drink. It marks the 131st anniversary today.

According to a press release issued by Department of Public Relations Prisma Advertising Pvt. Ltd, this drink has been refreshing and uplifting people across the globe since, and the drink that was at once “Delicious and Refreshing” continues to be a part of people’s every day moments. Dr. Pemberton’s partner and bookkeeper, Frank M. Robinson, is credited with naming the beverage “Coca‑Cola” as well as designing the trademarked, distinct script, still used today. While it was Dr. Pemberton who created the drink, it was Asa G. Candler, who grew the business, spreading it to all across the USA.

As business grew, so did competition and imitation. While imitation may be the sincerest form of flattery, Coca-Cola was also determined to remind consumers to settle for nothing less than the real thing, and advertised “Demand the genuine” and “Accept no substitutes.” It is also this never-ending battle against substitution that resulted in Coca-Cola deciding on a unique package, which is the distinctive contour bottle that you see today.

The Coca-Cola Company began building its global network in the 1920s.Robert Woodruff's leadership through the years took the Coca-Cola business to unrivaled heights of commercial success. Merchandising concepts accepted as commonplace today were considered revolutionary when Mr. Woodruff introduced them. The Company pioneered the innovative six-bottle carton in the early 1920s, for example, making it easier for the consumer to take Coca-Cola home. Woodruff's vision of the international potential of Coca-Cola is still being implemented and refined by the Company, its bottlers and subsidiaries, building the Coca-Cola business into an unparalleled global system for providing a simple moment of pleasure.

Now, the company operates in more than 200 countries. Moments that originated with Dr. Pemberton in Atlanta and has been multiplied billions of times around the world. Moments made familiar and universal by Candlers's unique advertising and Woodruff's vision to put Coca-Cola "within an arm's reach of desire."
