Australia Awards Recipients Felicitated

The Australian Ambassador to Nepal, Peter Budd congratulated 26 Australia Awards Scholarship recipients who will be commencing their graduate studies in Australia in January 2018. Australia Awards are prestigious international scholarships and fellowships funded by the Australian Government.

According to a press release issued by Embassy of Australia, they offer the next generation of global leaders an opportunity to undertake study, research and professional development in Australia. The next intake of Australia Awards Scholarships in Nepal will be announced in February 2018.

Speaking on the occasion, Ambassador Budd congratulated the awardees and reminded them that they have been selected to participate in Australia Awards for their potential to make significant contributions to the development of Nepal. Out of the 26 Australia Awards recipients, 13 scholarship were awarded to women; and two were awarded to people with disability.

The Australia Awards program is integral to Australia’s development cooperation program both in Nepal and across the region. It is a long-standing program with over 850 development-focused scholarships awarded in Nepal since the 1960s.
