Nepal Government To Regularize Social Media Platforms

Minister for Communication and Information Technology Parbat Gurung said that the government is drafting regulations to regulate the contents published in social media.

Addressing regular press meeting, he said that some people have misused the social media platform to dishonor and disrespect country’s top authorities. He said that the government will immediately announce Social Media Related Guidelines 2077 to regulate content and use of unregistered social media platform like YouTube, Face book, Twitter and online media.

He accused that social media platforms are misused publishing derogative, irresponsible comments to discredit high authority of the state in the name of freedom and liberty.

Under this guideline, all the social media platforms will come under the purview of law and this will also help to warn and take legal actions against those who involved in such scandalous activities.

Minister Gurung said that the government will no longer tolerate such hateful and disrespected on the media. He said that the government will no more tolerate any attack on the high level and respected institutions.
